I have to take a minute to say...

THANK YOU, Coach Carter, for pulling the whole Saturday event together. You had a little help here and there from the rest of us, but for the most part it was you. Thought it up, worked it out, pounded the pavement to promote it, made the (awesome) shirts, got the (yummy and effective) cake AND the (commie) red plastic silverware!

Thanks to the rest of the Candle Light posse. John Ira, Will, Ian. It was nice to have you all there, captured in photos.

A special thanks to all the faithful friends who showed up and put smiles on our faces. Mike (um, excuse me, MR. AYERS), Adam, James, Agent Black, Josh and Sarah and Anne from the IV ADS pharmacy at UIHC, David (of course), Hanna.

A still-astonished acknowledgement to Ian Tenney, with whom we had a real "Sacagawea-meeting-the-Shoshone-and-finding-out-their-chief-is-her-long-lost-brother-not-seen-since-childhood" moment. (see www.candlelightpress.net for the whole story on that.)

And last but not least, the folks at DAYDREAMS COMICS. Thanks so much for hosting us, and doing what you do to promote local creators. Hear, hear!!

It's a girl!

Well, it's finally here. Eight hours of every day of my life for the last year or so was a small price to pay.

The second volume of THE FAIRER SEX: A Tale of Shades & Angels (written by my good friend and co-creator John Ira Thomas and illustrated by yours truly) is done, and if I do say so myself, it looks pretty f*in' great.

Come check out our Great March event (a release party for Carter Allen's new DUB TRUB 3 book as well as this one) at DAYDREAMS COMICS in beautiful downtown Iowa City, Saturday, March 25 from 1:00-3:00. The entire CLP crew will be on hand, books will be available, signing will be done, and food will be consumed.

Seeya there!

UP FROM THE DEPTHS!

This is the comic that I read the most times in my whole life. It's Marvel Comic's Godzilla #14. "The Mega Mosters Part III: The Super-Beasts" was the final chapter in a story that had the Big G and Red Ronin fighting side-by-side against a trio of space monsters. In the middle of this epic battle was the forces of SHIELD being led by Dum Dum Dugan. This comic is probably the single most influencial comic of my youth. Just recently it was reprinted in ESSENTIAL GODZILLA. All 24 issues of that titanic series in one single volume. I think that it's some of the best work that artist Herb Trimpe did for Marvel. Absolute genius. Now, if Hanna-Barbera could ever strike a deal with Sony, we might end up getting a DVD collection of the 1970's Godzilla cartoon. Until then, here is to all the monsters that crashed the halls of my imagination.

Proof has been generated

I do so love those words. It means you're so close to done, it hurts. Tomorrow we'll receive the proof for THE FAIRER SEX vol2 and give it the old thumbs up-thumbs down. If it's all good, then it'll be in print by Thursday. Whee!

'Cause 2 out of 3 ain't bad...

Weekend is almost over. My entertainment batteries received a healthy shot in the arm. It was almost a perfect trifecta...almost.

Friday:
Went to CR and saw Emo Philips at Penguins Comedy Club. No...strike that...We sat at the stage of Emo Philips. (Note to MY 1986 self: Emo Philips, yeah that guy on the tv, is going to make fun of your hat 20 years in the future...be ready). It was a great show for dentists and normal folk.

Saturday morning:
Watched the season finale of Battlestar Galactica....
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*runs around room screaming*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH*runs around room some more*AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!....okay....I'm better now. Holy frak! What a show! What a cliffhanger! Never saw it coming. Dear gods.

Saturday night:
Went and saw Date Movie. Worst. Movie. Ever. The sight of the dear Alyson Hannigan was the only thing keeping me from gouging out my eyes and leaving the theatre. Unf*ckingbelievable. Damn you Hollywood. Damn you.

So, right now the only thing that could make-up for it would be a lap dance from Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I love domains

For a bit there, you may have seen an odd page when you clicked on creatorsondemand.com--I renewed it recently and got three emails today saying I'd successfully transferred the domain from...the same registrar. Fun fun fun.

Curling up in the hot carcass of a tuntaun? Not such a bad thought at the moment.

Can't find my latest notebook. It's probably on a soft pillow somewhere...

Anything not English here is the result of a faceplant on the keyboard.
